The Nigerians in Diaspora Organisation (NIDO), Italy chapter, has donated some vital items to the National Orthopaedic Hospital, Benin, Edo State.
Items donated were sets of electronic blood pressure monitors and were handed over to the Hospital during its management meeting.
The Medical Director of the Hospital, Dr Philip Ugbodaga, while receiving the items, thanked the organization for the donation, stressing that it will enhance service delivery at the Hospital.
He noted that the items came at the right and auspicious time as the Hospital sets out to deliver quality and patient-centered care in line with the renewed hope agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration and the four-point ministerial agenda of the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare.
“The donation of the electronic blood pressure monitors would strengthen service delivery to our patients who depend on the Hospital for specialist orthopaedic and trauma healthcare services,” Ugbodaga said.
He pledged to ensure that donated item by any organization from within and outside the country will be properly tagged, protected and accounted for in line with the transparency and accountability policy of the Hospital, so as to encourage well-spirited individuals and philanthropic organizations to contribute to the development of the newly established Hospital.
Earlier, the President of the Italy chapter of NIDO, Engr. Omo Iduhon, stated that the organization was moved to donate the items because of the group’s objective to give back to society.
He added that the proven track record of honesty and transparency of the Hospital’s Medical Director while he served as the Chief Medical Director of the Central Hospital in Benin City, reinforced the confidence of the organization that the donated items would be put to proper use.
Engr. Iduhon pledged to have further discussions with members of his diaspora community to provide more assistance to the newly-established Federal Hospital which he understands is a regional orthopaedic and trauma hub for the entire South-South geopolitical zone of Nigeria.
Other acting management staff members of the Hospital present at the presentation ceremony included Orobosa Ehiozomwangie (Administration), Omo Ailensha (Finance and Accounts), Linda Onyoda Ekele (Human Resources), Ajayi Nekhikare (Audit), Martins Edomwonyi (Procurement) and Osagie Nosa Aiguedomwen (Health Records).
