A 34-year-old businessman, Luka Gatya Pope, has been arrested by the police at Bar Beach Division, Victoria Island, Lagos, for allegedly sharing intimate photos of himself and his former girlfriend, Miss Hussain, with her new partner, Mike Igbagbon, who resides in Austria.

The action was reportedly taken in anger after Hussain ended their relationship and began dating Igbagbon.

The police reported that Pope also sent threatening messages to Hussain, demanding she broke off her relationship with Igbagbon and return to him.

He allegedly threatened to kill both her and her new partner if she refused.

According to the police, Hussain ended her relationship with Pope after realizing he was not serious.

Shockingly, after moving on with Igbagbon, she discovered that Pope had sent their private photos to her new lover in Austria.

Distressed, she reported the matter to the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) at Bar Beach, Victoria Island.

The DPO immediately ordered officers to investigate, leading to Pope’s arrest.

Inspector Patience Onyenche and her team carried out the investigation, during which Pope was found to have made threats to Hussain’s life and distributed her intimate photos through electronic means.

Pope was charged at the Tinubu Magistrate’s Court in Lagos for making threats to life and sharing the complainant’s nude photographs with her new partner.

Police prosecutor Ben Ekundayo informed the court that the offences took place between August 1 and 26, 2024, at Akarigbere Street, Victoria Island.

He explained that Pope’s actions were in retaliation for the abrupt end of their relationship.

The charges are punishable under sections 232 and 57(c)(1) of the Lagos State Criminal Law, 2015.

Pope pleaded not guilty, and Chief Magistrate M.A. Owunmi granted him bail of N100,000 with two sureties.

The case was adjourned until September 29, 2024, for further hearing, and Pope was ordered to remain in custody at Ikoyi Correctional Facility until his bail conditions are met.
