A security task force comprising personnel of the Nigerian Police, Army and other paramilitary outfits will soon commrnce a joint operation in Ekiti State with a view to checking the activities of kidnappers and other hoodlums.
The Ekiti State Commissioner for Police, Mr Akinwale Adeniran who disclosed this during a Stakeholders’ meeting organized by the Nigeria Police Strategic forum explained that part of the operation of the squad shall include, but not limited to, bush combing, community policing and engagement, timely communication, confidence building and visibility patrol.
According to him, the programme which will be flagged off in Niger, Ekiti States and Abuja the Federal Capital Territory, will also end attacks on schools facilities
The CP said the programme which is an initiative and strategic intervention of the Inspector General of Nigeria Police, Mr Kayode Egbetokun is geared towards guarantee the security of the students as well as teachers and ensuring safe, secured environment in all categories of schools in the country.
He said “the police, being the primary agent of government responsible for the protection of lives and properties of the citizens, in conjunction with the military, Civil Defense Corps, the South Western Security Network (Amotekun Corps), Vigillantee Groups, local hunters, including other non-stakeholders, have put in place some measures to safeguard the students and their teachers alike.
“It is my hope and expectation that this Strategic Forum will be educative and impactful, with the emergence of new ideas, fostering mutual understanding and benefits for our schools.
He said the measures were bout in place in view of the threats of insecurity targeting school children and their teachers.

Governor Biodun Oyebanji, represented by his Special Adviser on Security Matters Brigadeer Ebenezer Ogundana, (rtd) decried repeated attacks by cultists and cybercrimes in some higher institutions in the state.
Speaking on the theme “Strengthening Security Resilience and Integration of Host Communities in the Protection of Education”
The programme aimed at training the Schools Protection Squad (SPS) on the security of schools protection in Ekiti State.
The Governor who singled out the state -owned University, Ekiti State University (EKSU) where cultist and cybercrimes are rampant, however promised that his government will continue to support the security operatives and ensure their best performance in tackling the menace.
Oyebanji equally charged the schools administrators in the state to redouble their efforts in curbing the menace, promising that his administration will continue to intensity more open door policy that would guarantee there safety of lives and properties in the state.
He commended the Nigeria Police Force for organizing the squad, noted that the measure will go a long way in tackling the incessant attacks of schools in the country.
In his goodwill message, the Head of Safe School Unit, Force Headquarters, Abuja, Mr Lanre Ogunlowo, said the move is to ensure safe and good learning environments and tackle the menace of out school children..
