Broadcast journalist Chinoso Uba, also known as Nonsonkwa, was detained by the Imo Police Command on suspicion of cyberstalking, character assassination, disseminating false information, and instigating civil disorder.

On October 20, Nonsonkwa was apprehended close to Teachers House in Owerri-Port Harcourt as a result of a petition sparked by viral recordings.

In response to a petition to the police by an unidentified person, Nonsonkwa was detained on Monday in Owerri, according to a statement made by Imo police spokesman Henry Okoye. The charges included “cyberstalking, character defamation, misinformation, and civil unrest.”

Contrary to reports of abduction, the police clarified that Nonsonkwa was detained at the State Headquarters and will face charges after a comprehensive investigation.

He said: “The Command clarifies that he was not abducted. Nonsonkwa is currently detained at State Headquarters and will be arraigned in court with appropriate charges once a comprehensive investigation is completed.”
