Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has urged Lagosians to remember the sacrifices of past heroes who fought for the democratic path and join the ongoing effort to strengthen Nigeria’s democracy.
Sanwo-olu made this statement on Wednesday to commemorate June 12, the Nigerian democracy day.

He stated that June 12 symbolises Nigeria’s “unity, hope, and the pursuit of a better life” through true democratic practices.
The governor added that the day was meant to reflect on the country’s progress and renew its commitment to building a brighter future for our nation.
Sanwo-Olu said, “As we celebrate Democracy Day, let us remember the sacrifices made by our heroes who fought for the democratic path we walk on today. Let’s join hands to protect and nurture our democracy, ensuring that their efforts were not in vain.
“June 12 symbolizes our unity, hope, and the pursuit of a better life through true democratic practices. It is a day to reflect on our progress and renew our commitment to building a brighter future for our nation.
