On Tuesday, Rabiu Yusuf was found guilty by a Kaduna Chief Magistrates’ Court of stealing two iPhones valued at N678,000 and given a 16-week prison sentence.
The offender, according to Magistrate Ibrahim Emmanuel, did not provide the court with a plausible justification for his actions.
Emmanuel charged the convict to stop any criminal act or face a more stringent punishment if found wanting in future.
The defendant, who lives on Ali Akilu Road in Kaduna, was found guilty of theft and criminal conspiracy after entering a guilty plea.
Previously, the prosecutor, Inspector Chidi Leo, told the court that on September 13 at Kurmin Marshi, Kaduna, the defendant and two other people who were at large committed the crime.

Leo reported that the complainant, Zainab Salisu, had two iPhones valued at N678,000 stolen from her shop by the defendant.
According to him, the defendant and accomplices entered the store pretending to purchase clothes and took the two iPhones while they were being charged.
“It was later discovered through a CCTV camera that it was the defendant who stole the phones,” the prosecutor said.
He added that the phones were traced and the defendant was detained at his house with the said stolen phones.
Leo stated that the offense was against the 2017 Kaduna State Penal Code.
