The Kaduna State Independent Electoral Commission (KAD-SIECOM) has announced that local government elections in the state will be held on October 19, 2024.
Hajara Mohammed, the commission’s chairperson, revealed this date during a Tuesday meeting with political parties and other stakeholders in Kaduna.
Mohammed stated that the current council members, who took office on November 1, 2021, will complete their three-year tenure on October 31, 2024.
She explained, “KAD-SIECOM is tasked with organizing the elections for chairpersons, vice-chairpersons, and councillors in the state.”

In accordance with section 25(1) of the KAD-SIECOM Law 2024, the general public is hereby informed that the local government area (LGA) council election will take place in Kaduna on Saturday, October 19, 2024, between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.
The election timetable was released on Tuesday, July 16, 2024, along with the 2024 election guidelines.
Mohammed assured all concerned parties that the commission is fully prepared to conduct the election on the scheduled date.
