LAGOS – Ex-Abia State House of Assembly Minority Leader, Hon. Chijioke Chukwu, asserts that House of Reps Deputy Speaker, Rt. Hon Benjamin Kalu, receives validation following his viral statement urging Governor Alex Otti to join APC.

Rhodes-Vivour, the Labour Party’s candidate for the 2023 Lagos State election, mentioned that his party aims to claim Lagos State from the ruling APC in 2027.

Rhodes-Vivour, who addressed the issue during the LP’s extended stakeholders’ meeting in Umuahia, asserted that the party is now ready to break the APC’s hold on Lagos.

Kalum confidently stated that the APC would likely produce the next governor of Abia State.

The Deputy Speaker further mentioned that Otti, the current governor, would be the final Labour Party governor to lead the state.

These comments sparked criticism from numerous Nigerians, particularly from opposition parties.

Chukwu, in an interview with newsmen, pointed out that Rhodes-Vivour’s statement aligns with Kalu’s belief that the APC will win the gubernatorial seat in Abia State in the upcoming election. He questioned the criticism faced by the Deputy Speaker for expressing his party’s aspirations to strengthen and ensure Abia State benefits like other APC-governed states from the Federal Government.

“Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu has undeniably played a part in positively reshaping the Igbo community to address longstanding challenges and he articulates his views boldly and fearlessly.”

Kalu recently boldly declared that the Labour Party in Abia State won’t secure victory in the 2027 governorship election, affirming that his party, the APC, will produce the next governor.

This sentiment was echoed by Rhodes-Vivour, a former Lagos State governorship candidate now in the Labour Party, who stated the same during the party’s stakeholders’ meeting in Abia State.

Rhodes-Vivour confidently stated, “Labour Party will emerge victorious in the 2027 governorship election in Lagos State,” emphasizing their intention to claim power from the current ruling party.

“If you can’t criticize Rhodes-Vivour, then you shouldn’t be talking down on the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives,” he emphasized.
