Kano anti-graft agency arrests 3 lawyers, others over N20bn land scam

The Kano Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission said that it has arrested 15 suspects in connection with investigation of a N20 billion land scam in different parts of the state.
The Chairman of the commission, Muhuyi Magaji, who announced this while addressing newsmen on Thursday in Kano said those arrested included included the Registrar of the Kano State High Court, three lawyers, and four officials of the state Ministry of Lands.
He explained that a former Deputy Sheriff and a court bailiff were also among those arrested in connection with the land scam.

“The suspects allegedly attempted to bribe operatives of Department of State Services ( DSS) with N2 million, but their offer was rejected.
Magaji commended the Chief Judge of Kano State for their support and cooperation.
He commended Gov. Abba Yusuf for giving the commission a marching order to go after anyone involved in the scam.
He commended Yusuf for promising not to spare anyone found guilty, regardless of their position.( NAN)
