    Kano state deputy Governor, Aminu Abdulsalam, has apologised for his comment over alleged interference of the office of National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, in the controversy surrounding Kano emirship crisis.

    While addressing journalists at the weekend, the deputy Governor accused the former Chairman of Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) of abating the conveyance of the 15th emir Aminu Ado Bayero to Kano two days after he was deposed.

    Abdulsalam who specifically pointed the office of the NSA of facilitating the two aircrafts that brought Bayero to Kano on Saturday amid armed military protection.

    Although, the office of the National Security Adviser has challenged the deputy Governor to substantive his claim with evidence or face litigation, the state government regretted the utterances and the attendant embarrassment.

    Addressing journalists late Sunday evening, the deputy Governor disclosed that the government was misled by intelligence with the government purview to believe the “smuggle” of Bayero into Kano with tight military protection were directed by the NSA to the president.

    He, however, worried over the overwhelming interest of external personalities in the Kano emirate council matter however appealed to the office of the NSA to fish out those attempting to create state of emergency in Kano.

    The deputy Governor explained that the the rebuttal of the presidential aid on national security has further convinced Kano state government to withdraw its earlier accusation against the NSA’s office.

    The state government however accused former Kano state Governor and national Chairman of All Progressives Congress (APC) Abdullahi Umar Ganduje of fueling the emirship controversy to create chaotic situation in Kano.

    “First, we appreciate the NSA who has distance itself from the crisis surrounding the chieftaincy title in Kano.

    “We also want to acknowledge the fact that we have been misinformed to hold the believe that the NSA is behind the smuggle of deposed emir Aminu Ado Bayero to Kano.

    “It is now cleared that Mal. Nuhu Ribado was not behind those two aircrafts that brought Aminu to Kano along side the military that brought him.

    “I want to, on behalf of the Government and Governor of Kano state apologize to the NSA and regret any inconveniences that the allegation might have cause him and his office.”
