Kano Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf has announced the adoption of 95 orphans as part of his kind gestures in celebration of the 64th independence anniversary of Nigeria.
The Governor announced this during a special lunch with the 95 children who have been under the care of the state owned orphanage home since they lost their biological parents.
The lunchon was part of activities marking the 2024 Independence Day anniversary in Kano.
According to a statement by the Governor’s Spokesperson, Mr. Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, Yusuf declared full responsibility of the 95 orphans henceforth.

According to him, “I want to annouce that we have assumed full responsibility of all the 95 orphans domiciled in this facility, we will take care of thier education from primary to tertiary, healthcare services, feeding and other social needs throughout my tenure.”
The Governor assured that untill the end his tenure, the orphans would be treated as very important personalities with full benefit, care and privileges. He added that the state government will accorded the children opportunity to reach their full potentials in life.
The orphanage home, established 54 years ago, for the first time, witness the kind gesture Governor Yusuf offered while spending quality time with the vulnerable children.
“You are now my children, I will take care of you as my own, you will begin to feel the good side of life in sha Allah” the Governor assured
The statement added that the Governor had donated food items worth millions of naira for the welfare, safety and food security for the orphans.
