    A 40-year old man, Bala Sani, from Funtua Local Government Area, Katsina State has been arrested by police in Kano for stealing a car which he intended to sell at a local car market in the ancient commercial city.

    The suspect was apprehended on January 4, 2025, at his residence in Kwado Quarters, Katsina Local Government Area, Katsina State.

    During the investigation, the suspect confessed to conspiring with another individual to steal the motor vehicle from Zaria, Kaduna State.

    He further admitted to driving the vehicle to Kano with the intention of selling it.

    Upon realizing the presence of police officers near Ungogo Junction, the suspect abandoned the vehicle and escaped to Katsina state.

    A Statement by Kano state police Command spokesperson, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa indicated that: “On December 28, 2024, at approximately 5:00 pm, a team of policemen from the Anti-Car Theft Unit, State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Kano State Police Command, recovered an abandoned Rav-4 motor vehicle.

    “The vehicle, which was ash in color and had the registration number YAB 881 JK, Abuja, was found during a round-the-clock visibility patrol along Kwanar Ungogo, Ungogo LGA, Kano State.

    ” The recovered motor vehicle is currently in the custody of the Kano State Police Command.

    “The suspect will be charged to court upon completion of the investigation.

    ” The Command has urged the owner of the motor vehicle to report to the Police Public Relations Office, Kano State Command, or contact 08067885568 with proof of ownership.”
