The Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, has established a committee to investigate the fire outbreak that occurred at the Muhammadu Buhari House, a part of the Governor’s office.
A statement issued by Abdullahi Aliyu Yar’adua, the Director Press to the Secretary to the State Government, said the fire damaged the mini chamber attached to the Governor’s office, but was brought under control by firefighters from both federal and state services before it spread.
Daily Trust reported how an early morning fire razed the red chamber where the governor meets important personalities.
The committee, composed of high-ranking government officials, has been asked to unravel the cause of the fire, assess the extent of the damage, identify any lapses that led to the incident, and recommend measures to prevent future occurrences.
The committee members include the Head of Civil Service, Commissioners for Works, Budget, Justice, Internal Security, Information, and Culture, as well as the Permanent Secretary and State Commander of the Federal Fire Service.
According to the statement, the Governor’s Office will provide the committee’s secretary.
“Governor Radda has expressed confidence in the committee’s ability to conduct a thorough investigation and provide recommendations to prevent similar incidents in the future,” the statement added.
The committee has been given a week to submit its report.
