The Kebbi State Police Command has said that it officers have neutralised one bandit, arrested two others and recovered three AK-47 rifles, 66 ammunitions at Dankowasagu Local Government Area of the state.
Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the command, SP Nafiu Abubakar confirmed this in a statement made available to newsmen in Birnin Kebbi.
According to him, “in its sustained onslaught against banditry and other heinous crimes in the state, on the 21st June, 2024, at about 13:30hrs, armed bandits in their large numbers on motorcycles, invaded Kurgeye village, Danko/Wasagu LGA of Kebbi State, and kidnapped one Malami Danladi along with his son named Bello Danladi.
“On the receipt of the report, a team of 36 PMF personnel on special duty in collaboration with a vigilance group swiftly responded and gave them a hot chase which resulted to exchange of fire. In the process, one of the bandits was gunned down; one AK-47 rifle with empty magazine and one Bajaj motorcycle were recovered.
“Similarly, on the 3rd September, 2024, at about 13:00hrs, a team of policemen while on joint patrol with Vigilante Group of Nigeria, along Ribah-Kanya road, intercepted and arrested one Isiya Alhaji Usman and Yunusa Yusuf, both ‘m’ of Auda village in Danko/Wasagu LGA, for being suspected to be the bandits terrorising the area.
“When searched, one K2 rifle and one fabricated AK-47 rifle with three magazines and 66 rounds of live ammunition were recovered from them.
“In the light of the above, the Commissioner of Police, Kebbi State Command, Bello M. Sani, commended their gallant performances and urged them not only to sustain the tempo, but improve on it.
“The CP equally charged the police personnel and other security agencies operating in the area to intensify synergy among them with a view to decisively dealing with the bandits and other unscrupulous elements for socio-economic activities to thrive in the state.”
