Four persons who were kidnapped over the weekend along the Isan-Iludun Ekiti road in the state’s Ilejemeje local government area have been rescued.
The fifth victim of the tragedy, Oguntuase Idowu Oguntuase, 22, was also slain by the suspected kidnappers.
According to reports, the unidentified gunmen ambushed the victims along the Isan-Iye Ekiti route in the state’s Ilejemeje local government area, killing one and kidnapping four more.
The victims were reportedly on the road on Sunday night when the driver of the Ekiti State Commissioner for Local Government was reportedly shot and murdered, according to our source.

Confirming the development, the Ekiti State Police Command PRO, DSP Sunday Abutu, confirmed the development but said the kidnapped victims have all been rescued alive.
Abutu noted that efforts are underway for the possible arrest of the perpetrators.
Speaking on the development, Hon. Princess Iyabo Okieimen-Fakunle, the lawmaker representing the Ilejemeje Constituency, brought up the horrific killing and kidnapping that occurred on Sunday, September 22, in the Ilejemeje neighborhood of Iludun Ekiti. Five people were taken hostage, and one person lost their life.
The incident claimed the life of Idowu Oguntuase, a young and promising youngster, and other politicians, including Speaker Adeoye Aribasoye, conveyed their condolences.
The Speaker expressed sympathy to the lawmaker for Ilejemeje and the community for the murder and kidnapping of five local residents, as reported by Iyabode Okiemen, a lawmaker for Ilejemeje.
