KATSINA – Alhaji Nura Amadi Kurfi, the newly elected chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Katsina State, has been formally sworn in to commence statutory duties in the state.
The new state PDP chairman was sworn-in alongside other elected officials of the party at the PDP secretariat in Katsina on Thursday following the state congress held a fortnight ago.
In his inaugural address, Alhaji Nura Amadi commended the PDP national leadership under the chairmanship of Alhaji Umar Iliyasu Damagum who is leading the party at a very critical period.

Nura also expressed appreciation to Senator Yakubu Lado who led the party to victory in the 2023 general elections.

According to him, it was Senator Lado’s leadership that enabled the party to win the Presidential and some National Assembly elections in the state during the last elections.
“Senator Yakubu Lado has also provided a credible opposition in the state, made the party stronger and ensuring the welfare of its members”.
The new state PDP chairman however promised that his leadership will focus on four cardinal areas that include ensuring unity among the party members, enforcing Law and order, entrenching internal democracy and providing a level playing field for all contestants come 2027 general elections.
He therefore called on PDP leaders, chieftains, stakeholders and members in the state to support and cooperate with the new party leadership to move the party to greater heights.
Alhaji Musa Abdulkarim Makarfi, the state Caretaker Committee Chairman of the party, in his brief address, congratulated the new state executives, urging them to ensure unity amongst party members to enable it make the desired impact in the next coming 2027 elections in the state.
Highlight of the event witnessed the submission of the handover notes to the new chairman who was subsequently escorted to his office by dozens of the party supporters.
