    A 44-year-old Lagos car burglar Olusegun Oladimeji has been sentenced to 18 months imprisonment by the Tinubu Magistrates’ Court, Lagos Island, Lagos for vandalizing a Toyota Corolla Car belonging to Cedar Crest Hospital and stealing the pressing button of the car valued at N1,000,000.

    The convict was sentenced by Magistrate, Mr T.A. Idowu after he pleaded guilty to the three-count charge bordering on conspiracy, vandalism and stealing preferred against him by the Police at the Barbeach Division, Victoria Island, Lagos.

    It was also based on the facts of the matter presented before the Court by the Police Prosecuting Counsel, Inspector Ajaga Agboko.

    Agboko had told the Court that the journey to jail started for the convict on 26 March 2023 when he went to the premises of Ceder Crest Hospital located at Kofo Abayomi Street, Victoria Island, Lagos to Vandalized a Toyota Corolla Car belonging to Cedar Crest Hospital.

    He stole the Car pressing button valued at N1m and escaped unknown to him that the CCTV cameras installed at the Hospital premises had captured him.

    Agboko informed the Court that nemesis, however, caught up with the convict when he returned to the Hospital premises again after two days to steal more property.

    The vigilant Security men on duty at the Hospital recognized the convict with his picture printed out from the CCTV cameras and apprehended him.

    He said the security men sent a distress call to the Divisional Police Officer, DPO in charge of Barbeach Division who despatched his men to the scene of the incident to arrest the convict.

    The convict was charged before the Court on a three-count charge and the convict pleaded guilty to the charges.

    The Magistrate, Mr T.A . Idowu, sentenced him to 18 months imprisonment without an option of fine and directed that the sentence should run concurrently.
