The Lagos State Infrastructure Maintenance and Regulatory Agency (LASIMRA) has said it will crack down on unsafe, sagging and drooping telecommunication cables in the Lekki area.

LASIMRA, in a statement, said the targeted areas include Lekki 1 & 2, Ikate, and environs.

“This enforcement effort is critical to ensuring the safety of residents and maintaining the integrity of our infrastructure,” LASIMRA said.

“It is imperative that all Telco companies operating in the LEKKI axis take immediate action to address any instances of sagging or dropped down cables within their respective networks.”

LASIMRA noted that failure to comply with the enforcement measures may result in penalties and other regulatory actions.

It, however, urged telcos to prioritise the inspection of cables to avoid disruptions to services and potential liabilities.

“Your cooperation in this matter is greatly appreciated. Please ensure that your teams are fully informed and prepared to participate in this enforcement initiative,” it added.
