    Lagos driver hospitalised after truck accident

    A yet-to-be-identified driver has been hospitalised following a containerised truck accident in the Gbagada area of Lagos State on Sunday.

    PUNCH Metro learnt from a preliminary report of the incident signed by the Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, on Monday, that the truck had fallen due to the reckless driving by the driver.

    Following the fall, the driver was said to have sustained some injuries, which led to him being hospitalised.

    The LASEMA perm sec identified the vehicle as a containerised Mack truck with no number plate.

    He said, “Upon arrival of the LASEMA Eagle Response Team at the scene, LRT discovered an accident involving a Mack truck, registration number unknown, conveying a 40-foot container.

    “Information gathered revealed that the containerized truck fell sideways as a result of reckless driving, thereby obstructing vehicular movement.

    “Fortunately, there was no loss of lives. The truck driver sustained injuries and was taken to the hospital before the arrival of the agency’s response teams.”

    PUNCH Metro reported on July 1 that a reckless driver who was driving the wrong way along the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway killed one person after ramming into a motorcycle.

    The accident also left two persons with various degrees of injuries according to the spokesperson for the Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency, Babatunde Akinbiyi.

    Akinbiyo had told our correspondent that the Honda driver was driving against traffic when it collided with a motorcycle coming in the right direction.
