The wife of the Governor of Lagos State, Dr Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, has called on residents of the state to harness the potential of the creative sector to provide more economic opportunities for artists.
Sanwo-Olu made the call, according to a statement on Monday, during the 2022 edition of the Footprints of David Arts Festival which was organised by the Footprints of David Art Foundation in Bariga.
She said, “Flowing from the recent Greater Lagos Arts Exhibition collaboratively organised by the Office Of Lagos State First Lady and the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture for young artists to showcase their talents and learn from veterans through mentorship, it was instructive that the theme of this year’s FODAF was aimed at portraying the inherent values and potentials in every Lagosian.
“It is gratifying that the festival was attended by performers, market women associations, traditional rulers, and various organisations within and beyond Bariga, and also featured major sports and the presentation of the award of the best drummer nationwide to the drummer from FODAF.
“For us in Lagos, no stone will be left unturned to fully harness the potential of the tourism and entertainment sector, especially the creative arts component, and open up opportunities for artists.”
