A Tinubu Magistrates’ Court on Lagos Island, Lagos, Southwest, Nigeria has sentenced a hoodlum, Issa Adeyemi, 21, to 12 Months imprisonment for threatening the life of Chairman of the Isale Eko Security Organization, Oredola Garard Metobi.
Adeyemi had threatened to kill Oredola and his team members.
He was also accused of harassing and intimidating motorists along the Adeniji Adele Road, Lagos Island.
The convict was jailed by Magistrate T. A Idowu after pleading guilty to the two-count charge bordering on conduct likely to cause the breach of peace and threat to life and the facts of the matter presented before the Court by the Police Prosecuting Counsel, Inspector Ajaga Agboko.
Police alleged that trouble started for the convict on 9 May 2023 at Adeniji Adele Road and at 1, Onilegbale Street, Isale Eko, Lagos Island when the convict harassed and intimidated motorists along the Adeniji Adele Road.
He also threatened the life of the complainant, Oredola Garard Metobi, the Chairman of the Isale Eko Security Organization by telling him that “I will kill you and your team members”.
Police said that following the development, the complainant reported the matter to the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in charge of Adeniji Adele Division who swiftly drafted his men led by Otene Michael to fish out the convict and the Police arrested him at a hideout on Lagos Island.
The convict was charged before the Court on a two-count charge bordering on conduct likely to cause the breach of peace and threat to life.
Magistrate T.A. Idowu sentenced him to 12 Months imprisonment without an option of a fine and directed that the sentence would run concurrently.
