    According to the Lions Club International, the months of December and January are months of relieving hunger to the less privileged within communities. In line with this, the Lagos Passionate Lions Club, under District 404B2 Nigeria, demonstrated their commitment to humanity by extending love and support to the needy in Isheri Community, Lagos.

    At the event, the President of Lagos Passionate Lions Club, Lion Menwa Okeke spoke on sharing love to the less privileged, ” We are here today to celebrate with the people of the Isheri community in Lagos. Acknowledging the challenges many face in the country, we wanted to show love and support, particularly to the less privileged, by distributing some food items. While we know the supplies may not be sufficient to meet all their needs, we hope they offer some relief and make a small difference in their lives.’
    She also called on those who are more privileged to extend a helping hand to the needy:
    ” Giving to the less privileged during these challenging times is an honor, as it brings joy not only to them but to us as well. I encourage those who are fortunate enough to have more than they need to reach out and share with others. While I understand how tough things are for many in our society, this is a time to embrace the spirit of humanity and spread love to those who need it most.” she said.

    Also speaking at the event is the activity chairperson of Lagos Passionate Lions Club, Lion Esther Onoriode Ijomoni, who corroborated by encouraging the privileged to reach out to the needy.
    “I urge you to extend a helping hand to those in need. While the government cannot address every challenge in our communities, you can make a difference because you are closer to the people who need help. No matter how small the contribution, let us give what we can and bring smiles to the faces of the less privileged”, she said
    Relieving hunger, she emphasized is a moral obligation and a strategic investment in a society’s well-being and progress. It meets urgent needs while fostering the foundation for a more stable, prosperous, and equitable future.
    She also expressed her heartfelt gratitude to everyone who contributed to the success of this event. “It wouldn’t have been possible without your efforts, especially my great Lion members. Thank you!”
    Some of the foodstuffs that were distributed at the event included rice, garri, and indomie.

    In conclusion, the Female head of the market (Iya-Oloja) of the Isheri community, Lion Amaka Solomon appreciated the Lions Club for the project, “I would like to appreciate every member who contributed towards this project. It’s not an easy one because during this period so many people are hungry. I also appreciate the people of Isheri community, for not letting me down, they turn out in good numbers. This project wouldn’t have been a success without them. We know there is no amount of food given that would be enough but putting a smile on the faces of these people and relieving hunger for a little while goes a long way.’
