Lagos reviews Lekki e-Call-up System to tame truck chaos

The Lagos State Government has engaged stakeholders in the Lekki Free Trade Zone to review the effectiveness and compliance levels of the newly implemented e-call-up system aimed at managing truck influx in the area.
The state initiated the e-call-up system to streamline truck movements, reduce traffic chaos, and curb indiscriminate parking along the Ibeju-Lekki axis, thereby preserving real estate value and ensuring smooth operations.
Special Adviser to the Governor on Transportation, Sola Giwa, led a team from the Ministry of Transportation, including Senior Special Assistant on Transportation Logistics, Comrade Hassan Adekoya, to meet with key stakeholders.
The discussions, held over three days, involved representatives from Pinnacle, Dangote, Lagos Free Zone, Lekki Free Zone, Lekki Port, the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), and the Ibeju-Lekki Local Council Development Area (LCDA).
Giwa emphasised the importance of the initiative in preventing congestion and maintaining order.
“Our collective efforts are geared toward maintaining order and efficiency in the Lekki Free Trade Zone. The compliance level is progressing as planned,” he said.

“With the support of my team, including Adekoya, whose maritime expertise is invaluable, we are confident that this e-call-up system will significantly improve operational efficiency and reduce congestion.”
He added that the initiative marks a significant step toward sustainable development in the region, keeping the Ibeju-Lekki axis conducive for both commercial and real estate activities.
Adekoya reiterated the government’s commitment to inclusive stakeholder engagement as it prepares to enforce the system fully.
“The Lagos State Government is dedicated to fostering an environment where all stakeholders play an active role in the e-call-up system’s implementation,” he said.
“Our goal is to ensure order and maintain seamless operations around the Lekki Free Trade Zone as the system is enforced.”
