    Lagos to activate feeding programme in public schools

    The Lagos State Government has assured the public an activation of feeding programme in public primary and secondary schools.

    This was revealed by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Political, Legislative and Civic Engagement, Afolabi Abiodun at a ministerial press briefing on Monday at the Bagauda Kaltho Press Centre, Alausa, Ikeja.

    “Mr Governor has gone ahead and has directed that the school feeding programme should take place and very soon, we’ll see food being served in public primary and secondary schools,” he said.

    “There are a lot of things to be done. They need to know the number of pupils in the school. The school feeding programme is ongoing and I promise you, very soon you will see it.” the special adviser reassured.

    According to Abiodun, the feeding programme is one of the resolutions that emerged after the 18th Executive/Legislative Parley which was held between Thursday 14th March to Saturday 16th March, 2024.

    In his words, “The executive/Legislative Parley has been regularly organized as a platform on which public officers congregate under a conducive atmosphere to deliberate and chart a new course for the development of our dear state”

    The special adviser also disclosed that the government distributed 2,000 food boxes in response to the on-going challenges posed by the removal of fuel subsidy and its socio-economic impact.

    “The Lagos State Government through the Office of Political, Legislative and Civic Engagement (OPL&CE) amongst other MDAs, distributed 2,000 Food Boxes to provide the much-needed support and relief to vulnerable households in Lagos State.

    “The event was held at various location and the Food Boxes contained essential food items such as 10kg Rice, 5kg Beans, and 5kg Garri, as part of the various measures put in place by the Lagos State Government to alleviate the burden faced by citizens, especially the low-income earners, the elderly and persons living with disabilities,” he said.
