    LASTMA arrests reckless driver who caused serious injury to pedestrian

    In a harrowing incident that occurred today, the driver of a Toyota Camry, bearing the registration number KTU 447 EV, recklessly sped through a busy section of Ewenla/Charity near Oshodi, heading towards Mile 2.

    Tragically, the driver’s negligent actions resulted in the grievous injury of a pedestrian, who sustained severe bodily harm after being struck by the vehicle.

    Quick-thinking officers of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) were immediately on the scene, rendering swift assistance to the injured individual. The victim, who had suffered serious injuries across multiple parts of his body, was promptly rushed to Comfort Hospital in the Mafoluku area of Oshodi for urgent medical care.

    The driver of the Toyota Camry was subsequently apprehended by LASTMA Officers at the scene and in accordance with due procedure, both the driver and the vehicle were handed over to officers from the Mafoluku Police Station for further investigation into the circumstances of the accident.

    The LASTMA authorities urged all road users to exercise caution and adhere strictly to traffic regulations, emphasizing that the safety of pedestrians and fellow motorists is paramount.

    The LASTMA General Manager Mr. Olalekan Bakare-Oki, expressed his deep concern for the victim’s well-being and extended heartfelt wishes for a swift and full recovery.

    He also reiterated the Agency’s commitment to ensuring that road safety laws are strictly enforced to prevent such tragedies in the future.
