The member representing Abi/Yakurr federal constituency of Cross River State and chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Specialty Health Care, has advised Prof Sunday Etukudoh, the provost of the Federal College of Medical Laboratory Science Technology (FCMLST) in Jos to seek support from the Plateau State governor, Caleb Mutfwang, for the construction of a road leading to the college.
Alex Egbona made this recommendation during an oversight visit to the college, located at Lamingo, Jos.
He expressed satisfaction after inspecting various projects and facilities at the college, including the molecular and basic science laboratories. Despite acknowledging the provost’s commendable performance, Egbona highlighted challenges such as inadequate funding.
In response to the plight of the college, the lawmaker suggested that Prof Etukudoh collaborates with the Plateau State Government, recalling how the state supported the National Orthopedic Hospital in old Jos University Teaching Hospital (JUTH) with road infrastructure.
Etukudoh had briefed the committee on the college’s persistent efforts over the years to construct the road, which he said had been hindered by annual grading, which is subsequently eroded by rainfalls due to financial constraint.
