Ipswich Town’s Premier League rivals Leicester City have sacked manager Steve Cooper following their 2-1 defeat to Chelsea.
The Foxes were promoted alongside Town last season, winning the Championship title under Enzo Maresca, who subsequently departed for Stamford Bridge. Cooper came in as his replacement, but struggled to build a rapport with the fans.
Now sat in 16th place but concerned about falling down the league table and into the relegation zone, Leicester have pulled the trigger and opted to part company with Steve Cooper ahead of their trip to Brentford this weekend. It remains to be seen whether they’ll have a new manager in place by then, but there are a number of candidates.

Per Sky Bet, Graham Potter (5/4) is the current favourite. The former Brighton and Chelsea boss was targeted by the Foxes over the summer but reportedly turned the job down due to fears of a points deduction. Now that’s been ruled out, and with the England vacancy filled by Thomas Tuchel, he may look to take on the role.
Ex-West Ham manager David Moyes (7/4) comes after him, having been out of work since leaving the London Stadium at the end of last season. Ruud van Nistelrooy (11/4) is looking for a job after leaving his position as Manchester United’s assistant manager, as is Mark Robins (12/1), who was shockingly sacked by Coventry City earlier this month.
West Brom’s Carlos Corberan and former interim England boss Lee Carsley (both 20/1) are also listed, with Edin Terzic, Gareth Southgate, Jose Mourinho, Maurizio Sarri and Michael Carrick (all 25/1) further down.
Ipswich drew 1-1 against Leicester at Portman Road earlier this month, with Jordan Ayew cancelling out Leif Davis’ strike. The Blues will head to the King Power Stadium in their final away match of the campaign on May 18th, 2025.
