    LG polls: Jigawa establishes electoral malpractice tribunal

    The Jigawa state Independent Electoral Commission, on Monday, inaugurated a 13-memeber Electoral Malpractice Tribunal ahead of the October 5, 2024 Local Government elections in the state.

    A statement by the state electoral body’s Public Relations Officer, Mallam Habibu Yusuf, indicated that the creation of the tribunal underscored its commitment towards ensuring a free and fair electoral process.

    Mallam Yusuf, emphasized that the tribunal would act as an impartial body, protecting the rights of those who may feel cheated during the elections.

    The statement further revealed that the State Chief Judge, Justice Umar Mai Gari, administered the oath to the tribunal judges, led by Justice Musa Ubale.

    “The tribunal Judges are men of proven integrity, known for their judicial conduct, and are tasked with receiving complaints from anyone who believes the election was rigged or who faced harassment,” the statement added.

    The inauguration was attended by the state’s Attorney General, Bello Abdulkadir Fanini, the Chairman of the Commission, Auwalu Harbo, among others.
