Libya have confirmed that they will host Nigeria at the Benina Martyrs Stadium for a crucial 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier on October 14. The match is set to kick off at 8 p.m. Nigerian time.

The Super Eagles currently lead Group D with four points from two matches, while Libya sits at the bottom with just one point. This Matchday 4 clash will follow Libya’s visit to Uyo for their Matchday 3 fixture against Nigeria, which will start at 5 p.m.

Libya’s struggles in the qualifying campaign have seen them secure only a 1-1 home draw against Rwanda at the Tripoli International Stadium and suffer a 1-2 defeat to Benin Republic’s Cheetahs in Abidjan.

In contrast, Nigeria is in strong form, having achieved a convincing 3-0 victory over Benin Republic in Uyo during Matchday 1, followed by a goalless draw against Rwanda’s Amavubi in Kigali on Matchday 2. Two victories over Libya could nearly secure Nigeria’s spot in the tournament set to take place in Morocco, where they aim to improve on their runner-up finish to Côte d’Ivoire in February.

The Super Eagles are currently managed by Augustine Eguavoen, the Technical Director of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), which is still searching for a permanent head coach after Bruno Labbadia declined the position.

As anticipation builds for the upcoming match, Nigerian fans will be eager to see their team take another step towards securing their place in the prestigious continental tournament.
