Jorge Messi, the father and agent of PSG superstar Lionel Messi, has denied all rumours claiming that the 35-year-old has reached an agreement to play in Saudi Arabia next season.
With his PSG contract expiring on June 30, Messi looks set for an exit in the summer, with Barcelona keen on a possible reunion.
However, over the past couple of days, there have been a lot of rumblings surrounding Messi and a potential move to the Middle East, with Al Hilal pushing hard to sign the Argentina captain.
Earlier today, reports in France went as far as claiming that the record Ballon d’Or winner had reached a verbal agreement to play in Saudi Arabia next year, with Al Hilal reportedly offering him an outrageous contract worth €400 million per year.
But, Messi’s father and agent has denied those claims stating that there is nothing agreed with any club and that a decision will only be made at the end of the season.
“There is absolutely nothing with any club for next year. The decision will never be made before Lionel finishes the league with PSG. Once the season is over it will be time to analyse and see what is there, and then make a decision,” he wrote on Instagram.
“There are always rumours and many use Lionel’s name to gain publicity but the truth is only one and we can assure you that there is nothing with anyone. Neither verbal, nor signed, nor agreed, and there won’t be until the end of the season.”
Jorge Messi then went on to bash the sections of the media that had come out with these claims, stating:
“It seems to me a lack of respect shown to the media, that there are those who deceive in a conscious and deliberate way, without providing any proof of their statements, and wanting to transform into news any malicious rumour or one that is directed by someone in favour of their interests.”
“They would have to explain why they do not check their information…. They don’t want a truth to ruin ‘their news.”
