Liverpool claimed a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Chelsea in a thrilling encounter at Anfield on Sunday, sending them back to the top of the Premier League table.

The match was filled with drama, penalties, and VAR checks, keeping fans on the edge of their seats throughout.

The intensity of the game became evident in the 20th minute when Chelsea’s Jadon Sancho went down inside the box, but the referee, John Brooks, waved away the appeals.

Shortly after, Liverpool were awarded a penalty following a clumsy challenge by Chelsea’s Levi Colwill. Chelsea players fiercely protested the decision, but the call stood, and Mohamed Salah stepped up to convert the spot-kick with a composed strike to the right of the net, giving the Reds a 1-0 lead in the 29th minute.

Chelsea had their chances, with Nicolas Jackson nearly equalizing when his powerful shot hit the post in the 33rd minute.

The game continued with high energy, and just before halftime, a controversial moment unfolded as Liverpool were awarded another penalty. However, after a VAR review, the decision was overturned, much to the relief of Chelsea players and fans.

The second half kicked off with even more drama as Chelsea quickly equalized. In the 48th minute, Nicolas Jackson found the back of the net after a VAR review confirmed the goal, sparking wild celebrations among the Chelsea players.

But Liverpool responded swiftly, and it was Curtis Jones who put the home side back in front in the 51st minute.

Assisted by Salah, Jones coolly slotted the ball into the bottom right corner after spotting Chelsea goalkeeper Robert Sanchez off his line, making it 2-1.

Despite Chelsea’s best efforts to stage a comeback, Liverpool held on to their lead and secured the crucial victory.

The result pushes Liverpool back to the top of the Premier League, while Chelsea will be left to reflect on missed opportunities in what was an action-packed contest at Anfield.
