The Labour Party’s, LP, National Working Committee has urged the National Security Adviser, NSA, and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, to investigate Aisha Yesufu, Pastor Itua Ighodalo, the party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, and Afenifere leaders for suspected mismanagement of funds from the 2023 presidential campaign.
During a press conference on Wednesday in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Abayomi Arabambi, called for this investigation.
He expressed concern regarding recent statements made by Yesufu, who defended herself against allegations of involvement in the purported misuse of the 2023 campaign funds.
The LP claimed that Yesufu, Pastor Ighodalo, and others mishandled and redirected donations totaling over N12 billion and $15 million meant for the party’s campaign.
Arabambi dismissed Yesufu’s refutations as efforts to conceal the alleged financial impropriety, criticizing her remarks as disrespectful to the party’s leadership.

He also alleged that Yesufu and her colleagues, under Obi’s influence, who he labeled as a “political merchant,” collaborated to deceive the party.
Arabambi went on to involve Afenifere leaders, such as Pa Ayo Adebanjo, Akin Osuntokun, and Sola Ebiseni, alleging that they held more than N600 million in personal accounts associated with Afenifere.
He claimed that they were recruited by Obi to engage in fraudulent activities and redirect funds from the Labour Party’s presidential campaign.
“The trio of Pa Ayo Adebanjo, Akin Osuntokun, and Sola Ebiseni were involved in financial infractions totaling over N600m, which they have kept in private accounts and Afenifere accounts.
“Peter Obi hired Aisha Yesufu, Pastor Itua Ighodalo, and this faction of Afenifere to commit looting, criminal conspiracy, and diversion of funds from the Labour Party’s presidential campaign while presenting themselves as elder statesmen,” Arabambi alleged.
The Afenifere leaders and Obi’s team have not issued any responses to the recent accusations.
