The much awaited new date for Gombe Inter-Secondary Schools AthIetics Championships is finally here.
The premier event will now hold between November 11 and 16, 2024 as the prestigious Pantami Stadium will host over 85 secondary schools from 11 local government areas in Gombe State, a development which is viewed as unprecedented in the annals of Sports in the State.
Octobe 18 to 24, 2024 previously fixed for the championship was changed following scheduled government activity involving the State Education Ministry.
Over 65 secondary school games masters have since been trained for the meet with an estimated number of about 3,065 young athletes to be engaged for the premier championship.
Works at the event’s Games Village where athletes will camp is already completed as training and conditioning is ongoing in various schools.

Chairman of the Main Organising Committee (MoC) Hon. Ahmad Shuaibu Gara-Gombe, directed participating school principals, athletes and all stakeholders to prepare their student-athletes for the biggest talents hunt championships.
The sponsor of the event stated this during a flash chat, saying all logistics in preparation for the commencement of the maiden Inter Secondary Schools Championship are fully on ground.
The Gombe State Athletics Association boss added that some adjustments carried out in earlier announced date turned out to be an advantage as sponsors now have enough time to finalize deals that would ultimately add values to the athIetics event to be viewed globally via internet streaming.
Hon. Gombe, the Chairman/CEO of Green White Green (GWG) Sports Center Ltd, also expressed gratitude for the seamless resolution of the events date with relevant stakeholders from the Ministry of Sports and Education which was transmitted through their directors, namely Mrs. Zainab Isyaku Adamu and Isah Ali Doho respectively.

Consequently, the new event date has ignited some freshness in the participating schools’ drive for intensive tracks & field training and participation.
