A 30-year-old man has killed a youth of 17 years, Adeolu Olubade, and buried him inside his apartment on Jesus Assembly Omoguwa Street, Ejigbo, Lagos.
It was gathered that the suspect (names withheld) has been arrested in connection with the crime.
Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Benjamin Hundeyin, said the crime was believed to have occurred between 4pm and 7pm on September 2, 2024.
Hundeyin said the grieving family identified the suspect as being responsible for the heinous crime.
He said: “On September 3, 2024, about 8am, a family member of the deceased reported at the station that his 17-year-old cousin was discovered dead and buried in one of the rooms at Jesus Assembly Omoguwa Street, Ejigbo.
“They suspected the crime was carried by a suspect of the same address between 4pm and 7pm. Based on this report, a team of detectives was dispatched to the crime scene and took photographs of the shallow grave before the corpse was exhumed.
“The body has been taken to the Isolo General Hospital for postmortem examination. The suspect mentioned has been apprehended, and the shovel suspected to have been used to bury the victim has been recovered, taken to the station, and registered as an exhibit.”
He added that the suspect would be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Panti, Yaba, for further investigation.
In another development, a member of Nigerian Hunters and Forest Security Service (NHFSS) has shot dead an 18-year-old man and injured two others while on a hunting expedition in Lagos
The police are interrogating the hunter, James, 28.
The deceased, Toheeb Akinbowale, Sodeeq and one other victim were rushed to Ifako- Ijaiye General Hospital, but Akinbowale gave up the ghost while two others survived.
The survivors were later referred to General Hospital, Ikeja, where they are presently receiving treatment.
Hundeyin said that the suspect has confessed that he mistakenly fired the shot that killed one and injured two others.
He said the police visited the scene, where the double-barrel gun he used during the shooting was recovered, with photographs taken, while the corpse was deposited at a public mortuary.
He said the police were still investigating the matter.
