    Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, has praised the military for their recent successes in combating banditry in the North-West, reaffirming the Federal Government’s commitment to ending the security crisis in the region.

    This was disclosed by the Ministry’s Director of Information and Public Relations, Henshaw Ogubike, following Matawalle’s visit to Sokoto State on Friday, October 11, for security engagements.

    During his visit, Matawalle oversaw the handover of critical military assets at the Sokoto State Government House. The assets, including 10 operational vehicles—8 Buffalo trucks and 2 Toyota Hilux—were donated by the Sokoto State Government to enhance the military’s mobility and response to security threats in the area.

    The Minister also received operational briefings from the Air Component of Joint Operation Hadarin Daji. He praised the recent precision strikes and ground operations that have successfully neutralized key bandit leaders, highlighting the professionalism of the armed forces.

    “Your recent achievements are a reflection of your dedication and expertise,” Matawalle stated. “The Federal Government will continue to provide all necessary support to ensure lasting peace is restored in the North-West.”

    Matawalle also commended the Sokoto State Government for its contributions to security efforts, stressing that the fight against banditry requires cooperation at every level. He noted that the donated vehicles would significantly improve the operational effectiveness of troops in the region.
