Real Madrid’s Kylian Mbappe delivered a breathtaking performance on Wednesday night, dismantling Manchester City with a stunning hat-trick to propel Los Blancos into the Champions League Round of 16 with a 3-1 victory.

Madrid qualified on 6-3 aggregate triumph having won the first leg 3-2 in England last week.

From the very first whistle, the Santiago Bernabéu roared in anticipation, and it took just four minutes for Mbappe to set the tone.

The French superstar, always aware, spotted City goalkeeper Ederson off his line and executed an audacious lob from the edge of the box, leaving the Brazilian rooted as the ball nestled into the net.

It was a moment of pure genius that sent the home crowd into a frenzy.

City attempted to respond, but Madrid’s relentless attack kept them on the back foot.

In the 29th minute, Mbappe came agonisingly close to doubling the lead, only to be denied by a stunning save from Ederson.

However, just four minutes later, there was no stopping him. Rodrygo, cool under pressure, slipped a perfect pass to Mbappe inside the box, and the Frenchman clinically slotted the ball into the left corner to make it 2-0.

Tensions flared in the first half as Jude Bellingham found himself in the referee’s book for a reckless challenge, ruling him out of the next fixture.

Despite the setback, Madrid continued their relentless pursuit of more goals.

Manchester City, desperate to keep their Champions League dreams alive, pushed forward in the second half, but their efforts were repeatedly thwarted by Madrid’s disciplined defence and the brilliance of Thibaut Courtois between the sticks.

Even when Mbappe was denied by another Ederson masterclass in the 57th minute, there was a sense of inevitability about what was coming next.

And then, in the 61st minute, Mbappe delivered the final dagger. Collecting the ball at the edge of the box, he unleashed a venomous strike that curled past Ederson into the left side of the goal.

The Bernabéu erupted as Mbappe completed his hat-trick, etching his name into yet another chapter of Champions League folklore.

City had their chances to salvage pride—Vinicius Junior, Rodrygo, and even Jude Bellingham tested Ederson’s reflexes—but the Brazilian shot-stopper kept the scoreline from becoming an embarrassment.

In stoppage time, Omar Marmoush’s powerful free-kick rattled the crossbar, but City found some late consolation when Nico pounced on the rebound to slot home.

A brief VAR check had Madrid fans holding their breath, but the goal stood, though it was merely a footnote to Mbappe’s show-stopping display.
