Lionel Messi has been named player of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, as he was awarded the Golden Boot on Sunday.
The football superstar led Argentina to their third World Cup after 36 years wait for the trophy.
He scored seven goals at the tournament to lead his country to the trophy. He was instrumental in Argentina’s smooth exploit at the World Cup, including scoring two goals in the final.
However, the Golden Boot went to Kylian Mbappe, who scored the highest number of goals at the tournament with eight.
He got a hat-trick in the final of the tournament against Argentina.
Argentina’s Emi Martinez takes the Golden Glove award for the best keeper.
The young player of the tournament goes to Argentina’s 21-year-old midfielder Enzo Fernandez.
