    The Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has exceeded its 2024 revenue target, recording an impressive ₦71.6 billion in collections.

    The Customs Area Controller (CAC), Comptroller Effiong Harrison, announced this in a statement on Friday, noting that the command’s revenue target for 2024 was set at ₦56.861 billion.

    Harrison described the achievement as unprecedented, highlighting it as the highest-ever revenue generated in the command’s history.

    “A detailed breakdown of the revenue underscores the remarkable achievement of the command in revenue generation,” he stated.

    During a meeting with his management team, Harrison revealed that the command surpassed its target by ₦14.77 billion, generating a total of ₦71,633,687,108.84. This marks a 20% increase over the projected figure.

    He also noted that July 2024 was a standout month, with the command achieving a record monthly revenue of ₦12 billion.

    When comparing 2023 to 2024, Harrison highlighted a significant growth in revenue.

    The command generated ₦41.1 billion more in 2024 than the ₦30.5 billion recorded in 2023, representing a 135% increase.

    “This exceptional performance can be attributed to the dedication, commitment, and adherence to high operational standards by the officers and men of the command,” Harrison said.

    He commended the staff for their relentless efforts and urged them to intensify their work to sustain and surpass this standard in 2025.

    The MMIA Customs boss expressed gratitude to the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adeniyi, and his management team for their unwavering support.

    He also acknowledged the role of stakeholders and other government agencies as vital partners in the command’s 2024 success.

    Harrison expressed optimism that the command would achieve even greater milestones in 2025, reinforcing its commitment to fulfilling its core mandates. (NAN)
