Super Eagles winger Moses Simon has been named Nantes’ Player of the Month for August, just as Nigeria prepares for their Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier against the Republic of Benin.
Simon earned 43% of the votes, surpassing his teammates Alban Lafont, Matthis Abline, and Nathan Zézé.
In August, Simon impressed by scoring two goals in three matches, including strikes against AJ Auxerre and in a 3-1 win over Montpellier.
He has started every match for Nantes this season, playing a total of 237 minutes in the French top flight.

The winger will receive the award on September 15, 2024, before Nantes’ home match against Stade de Reims at La Beaujoire Stadium.
Simon will also aim to maintain his strong form as Nigeria faces Benin in Uyo this Saturday, kicking off their 2025 AFCON qualifying campaign.
He missed Nigeria’s World Cup qualifying matches against Benin and South Africa in June 2024 due to an injury sustained in a friendly against Mali in Marrakech, Morocco.
After the Benin match, Nigeria will head to Kigali to play Rwanda on September 10 at Amahoro Stadium.
