Motorists and commuters plying the Ajah Ibeju-Lekki axis of Lagos State have cried out to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and the Commissioner of Police, CP Adegoke Fayoade to, as a matter of urgency, find solutions to the incessant robbery attacks they suffer day and night at General Paint bus stop area of Sangotedo, Ibeju-Lekki.

Some of those who spoke with P.M.NEWS in the area at the weekend stated that they decided to cry out to the Governor and the CP Lagos to let them know about their plight.

According to them, the robbers residing at a makeshift structure on a large expanse of land at General Paint bus stop usually troop out in large numbers armed with guns, cutlasses and knives to attack drivers and commuters, rob them of money, phones and other properties and inflict injuries on anyone who dares to fight back when the drivers stop to drop off passengers or pick passengers and anytime vehicles breakdown in the area.

They appealed to Governor Babatunde Sanwo-Olu to order the demolition of the shanties at the General Paint bus stop, Sangotedo where the robbers are living and using as a base from where they are launching attacks on road users.

The complainants commended CP Adegoke Fayoade for doing a good job in the war against crime and criminality in Lagos since he assumed office but pleaded with him to complete his good job by directing the DPOs of Ajah and Elemoro divisions to intensify patrol along the General Paint area to save the lives of road users plying the area saying Police patrol is not being felt along the Sangotedo, Ajah Ibeju-Lekki axis at all for now.

According to Mr Sunday Uduak, a bus driver, “The robbers trooped out from their General Paint hideout in large numbers last week Saturday to attack me and passengers, dispossessing us of money and phones and even stabbed me on my face when I stopped to drop off passengers in the area at about 9 pm.

Mr John Okoebo, also a driver advised that a team of police officers should disguise by driving to the area in plain clothes with an ordinary vehicle and halt it as if it has broken down. He said the officers would be surprised at how the hoodlums would swarm at them.
