The National Chairperson of the Police Officers Wives Association (POWA), Dr. Mrs. Elizabeth Egbetokun has commissioned the FCT Command Secretariat of the organization, located at the Command’s new site in Utako district, Abuja.
Dr. Egbetokun while commissioning the project dedicated it to “brave officers” who stand on the frontlines and the families who support them, often at great personal cost.
In her address at the occasion, the POWA President stated “Together, we will achieve greatness, uplift each other, and serve as a model of unity and resilience for all, to honor their unwavering courage.
The POWA National Chairperson described the project Commissioning as the opening of doors to a beacon of hope, support, and empowerment.
She said, “It is an honor to stand before you today not just as the President of the Police Officers Wives Association (POWA), but also as the “Mother of the Day”, to mark the “Grand Opening/Launching Ceremony of the FCT POWA Secretariat a moment that symbolizes our unity, resilience, and commitment to each other and to the communities we serve.
“Today, we don’t just inaugurate a building; we open the doors to a beacon of hope, support, and empowerment. This Secretariat represents more than bricks and mortar- it embodies the spirit of solidarity among the families of those who dedicate their lives to serving and protecting us, often under challenging circumstances.
“To our police officers, your bravery and dedication do not go unnoticed. The sacrifices you make daily protect our communities and foster a safe environment for our families. As POWA, we stand by you, committed to offering support to you and your families while you fulfill your important roles.”

According to Mrs Egbetokun, “This Secretariat will serve as a hub for programs that uplift and empower our women who play an indispensable role in nurturing our families and communities.
“It will be a sanctuary where we can enhance our skills, share our stories, and find strength in each other. Through workshops, training sessions, and outreach efforts, we aim to provide resources that equip women not only to support their husbands but to thrive in their own right.
“We cannot overlook the significance of our partnerships. I extend my heartfelt gratitude to the stakeholders, volunteers, and supporters who made this dream a reality. Your belief in our mission has been the cornerstone of these achievements.
“Together, we will further strengthen our network, fostering connections that will lead to greater opportunities for growth and advancement. I urge us all to step forward and take ownership of this Secretariat.
“Let it reflect our aspirations, our commitment, and our voices. We are more than a network; we are a family, and each member brings unique value to our collective mission.”
She urged all members of the organization to remember that their “strength lies in unity.”
In her words, “Let us celebrate our diversity, encourage one another, and work together to create impactful change. We invite each of you to bring your ideas, energy, and passion to the forefront. Let us ensure that this Secretariat becomes a lasting legacy of support and empowerment for generations to come.
“Thank you for being here today, for believing in our vision, and for your continuous support. Together, we will create a brighter future for our community, families, and our beloved nation,” she said.
The event was attended by the Inspector General of Police, ably represented by the Deputy Inspector General of Police, Department of Operations, DIG Ede Ayuba Ekpeji, psc(+); the Assistant Inspector General of Police, Zone 7, AIG Benneth C. Igweh, psc, mni and the Commissioner of Police, FEDOPS, CP Vungwoh Kwaimo as well as other senior officers and guests.
