Traditional rulers from the Niger Delta region have expressed strong backing for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s policies aimed at enhancing peace, security, and development.

The monarchs voiced their support during a stakeholders’ meeting organised by the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP) Office in Warri.

HRM King Justice F. F. Tabai of Tuomo kingdom, along with other royal fathers, shared their optimism regarding the president’s commitment to the Niger Delta.

The monarchs expressed confidence that Tinubu’s developmental initiatives would greatly benefit the people.

A statement released by the PAP’s Special Assistant on Media, Mr. Igoniko Oduma, disclosed that the meeting was themed “Working Together for Sustainable Peace, Security, Stability, and Development in the Niger Delta”.

The traditional rulers emphasised the critical role they play in fostering stability in the region.

King Tabai said that. “We appreciate the president for appointing a worthy son to lead the PAP. He can rest assured of our full support.

“We will do everything necessary to ensure that Mr. President succeeds. Our communities will reap the rewards of his plans,” they stated.

The rulers also lauded Dr. Dennis Otuaro, the newly appointed PAP Administrator, highlighting his capacity to lead the programme effectively. They urged him to expand educational opportunities and vocational training, recognising the positive impact these initiatives could have on local communities.

In his address, Otuaro acknowledged the vital role of traditional rulers in the peace-building process.

Otuaro said, “It is encouraging to see our revered traditional leaders supporting the president’s agenda. Their involvement is crucial for our collective progress,” he noted.

He reiterated the administration’s commitment to key infrastructure projects, including the East-West Road and the Coastal Road. Otuaro outlined plans to deploy 500 beneficiaries for the PAP scholarship scheme and empower 1,000 youths and women in various trades.

“Our focus is on serving the people. With the strong support of the President and the National Security Adviser, we are determined to enhance the socio-economic well-being of the Niger Delta,” he concluded.
