The National Association of Delta State Students (NADESSTU) Worldwide, in collaboration with the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), has recognized Governor Sheriff Oborevwori with a Merit Award for his significant contributions to education in the state.
The award was presented during a courtesy visit to the Governor at Government House in Asaba on Tuesday.
During the ceremony, NADESSTU President Comrade Monday Wiska commended Governor Oborevwori for his notable achievements, including the approval of bursary payments for 30,116 students in 2023 and 32,028 students in 2024.

Wiska also praised the Governor for enhancing access to quality education, improving school infrastructure, and implementing educational reforms that foster student development, all of which were key factors in selecting him for the award.
In response, Governor Oborevwori expressed his gratitude for the honor and reiterated his commitment to advancing education in Delta State.
He highlighted various initiatives his administration has launched to create better learning environments and expand educational opportunities for students.
A significant moment during the visit was the Governor’s donation of a bus to NADESSTU, alongside the formal presentation of the NADESSTU Merit Award by Comrade Wiska, acknowledging Governor Oborevwori as a distinguished Gold Icon of Educational Development in Delta State.
