LAGOS – The Nigerian Aviation Handling Company (NAHCO) Plc said it would provide handling service to Emirates Airlines, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) carrier.

Emirates had suspended flight services to Nigeria in September 2022 following the trapped fund fiasco in the country that spanned for more than three years.

The airline suspended services to Nigeria when its trapped funds climbed to $85 million.

But, the Bola Tinubu-led administration earlier in the year cleared the backlog of debts.

A statement by Mr. Tayo Ajakaye, the Assistant General Manager, Corporate Communications, NAHCO, in a statement on Monday, said that the handling company had once again secured the bid to provide passenger and cargo handling services for Emirates Airlines at Lagos Airport.

The statement said that this renewed contract underscored NAHCO’s unrelenting commitment to delivering exceptional ground handling services and highlight its role as a critical partner in Nigeria’s aviation industry.

The statement hinted that the agreement with Emirates Airlines reinforcd NAHCO’s position as the trusted service provider to some of the world’s leading airlines.

Speaking on the resumption of Emirates to Nigeria, Dr. Seinde Fadeni, Chairman, NAHCO, said that the company was honoured to welcome the airline back to Nigeria and to continue its longstanding relationship with the carrier.

Fadeni explained that securing this renewal was a testament to NAHCO’s consistent quality of service and the trust its partners place in its service.

“We look forward to further strengthening valued partnerships and continuing to set the standard for ground handling in Nigeria,” he added.

In his comment, Mr. Indranil Gupta, Group Managing Director, NAHCO, stated that it was a privilege for the company to have been chosen once more by Emirates Airlines for their ground handling needs at Lagos Airport and to extend its successful partnership with the carrier.

He expressed optimism about the company’s future and reaffirmed NAHCO’s commitment to supporting the growth of the company’s airline partners in Nigeria.

Also commenting, Prince Saheed Lasisi, Group Executive Director, Commercial & Business Development at NAHCO, explained that the company’s successful renewal of this contract with Emirates Airlines was a reflection of the hard work and dedication of the entire NAHCO team.

Lasisi expressed that the company was proud to be the preferred ground handlers once again for Emirates as they resume their flights to Nigeria.

“Our focus remains on delivering world-class services that meet and exceed the expectations of our airline partners,” he added.
