Namadi unveils N698 Billion Budget for 2025

Jigawa State Governor, Malam Umar Namadi, has presented a N698 billion budget proposal for 2025, titled “The Budget of Innovation & Transformation for Greater Jigawa.”
The ambitious plan prioritises infrastructure, education, healthcare, and economic empowerment to drive significant development across the state.
Speaking at the State House of Assembly, Namadi described the budget as a bold blueprint for self-reliance and prosperity.
Key highlights include: Personnel Costs of N90.76 billion (13%) to accommodate the new ₦70,000 minimum wage and critical recruitment in education and healthcare; Recurrent Expenses of N63.69 billion (9%) for scholarships, feeding programmes, and utilities and Capital Investments of N534.76 billion (76%) allocated to transformative projects.
Over N148 billion has been earmarked for roads and infrastructure, targeting the completion of 46 ongoing projects.
Additionally, N39.4 billion has been set aside for a 100 MW solar power plant and a solar panel manufacturing facility, which Namadi hailed as game-changers for energy access and investment attraction.
Education leads the budget with a staggering N120 billion allocation.
Namadi reaffirmed his commitment to improving educational outcomes through initiatives such as the Partner-Assisted New Globe Education Digital Learning Project.
“Education is the foundation of progress. By equipping our children with quality education, we are investing in Jigawa’s long-term growth,” he stated.

The healthcare sector will receive over N40 billion, with plans to establish a medical village featuring a diagnostic and cardiac centre, alongside an oxygen plant.
The Governor described the initiative as a turning point for healthcare delivery in the state.
Over N20 billion is dedicated to economic empowerment, including market development, small business support, and revitalisation of the Maigatari Export Processing Zone to create jobs and opportunities for young entrepreneurs.
“With our youth dominating the population, tackling unemployment is obligatory. We are committed to innovative empowerment programmes that generate massive employment,” Governor Namadi said.
N16.8 billion has been allocated to climate resilience projects, including the Agro-Climate Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscapes (ACReSAL) project, to address flooding and erosion while combating the effects of climate change.
The second phase of the Mass Housing Programme will receive N10.72 billion, focusing on affordable housing for residents.
Namadi also presented a N173.5 billion consolidated budget for local government councils, ensuring grassroots development through personnel costs, overheads, and capital projects.
In response, Speaker of the Jigawa State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Haruna Aliyu Dangyatin, commended Namadi’s visionary leadership, highlighting progress in agriculture and education under his administration.
He assured the Assembly’s commitment to fast-tracking the budget’s passage to ensure continued progress for the people of Jigawa.
Namadi concluded his presentation by urging prompt approval to implement the budget from January 1, 2025, pledging to deliver transformative governance for the state’s citizens.
