to Super Eagles defender, Olisa Ndah, the three-time African champions will bounce back from their indifferent start to their 2026 World Cup qualifying campaign and compete for the African Cup of Nations next year.
The Eagles kicked off their World Cup qualifying campaign in disappointing fashion, recording 1-1 draws in their opening two Group C games against Lesotho and Zimbabwe, with Jose Peseiro’s side one point adrift from South Africa and two behind surprise leaders Rwanda.
Speaking with the 25-year-old Orlando Pirates defender said, “These things can happen. “Sometimes things don’t always go as well for you, but I believe that the Eagles are certainly capable of returning to winning ways again.
“I always fancied the Eagles to be one of the strong contenders for the forthcoming AFCON in Ivory Coast next year.”
Despite being overlooked by the team under Jose Peseiro, Ndah remains confident of returning to the team ahead of the AFCON in Ivory Coast.
“We have talents everywhere and I believe I will get my chance to prove my worth like I did before the last AFCON.”
Since taking charge in 2022, Peseiro has won six and lost six of his 15 matches in the dugout.
The Eagles side have scored 31 times – with 10 coming in one game against Sao Tome and Principe – and conceded 21 goals.
Ndah who has made eight appearances for Orlando Pirates last featured against Guinea-Bissau at the last edition of the AFCON in Cameroon.
The 25-year-old has won three titles (MTN8 Cup twice and the Nedbank Cup) with Orlando Pirates since joining the club on August 26, 2021 from Akwa United.
