The National Directorate of Employment (NDE) says it has trained 25 unemployed graduates in Plateau on solar power installation and maintenance.

The agency said on Wednesday in Jos that the training was conducted in partnership with Abuja Graduate School.

According to the agency, the training is aimed at providing the participants with the needed skills to become self-employed.

NDE State Coordinator Ibrahim Abdulazeez called on the beneficiaries to take the training seriously.

He described solar energy as the only alternative towards boosting regular power supply in the country.

Abdulazeez said that if the knowledge acquired was well utilised, it would be of great economic value to the nation.

He noted that that their selection was a rare privilege, hence the need for them to make good use of the opportunity to become self- reliant and become employers of labour.

Da Sunday Bot, Community Head, Rantya Community, Jos South, encouraged the beneficiaries to be diligent, stating that there were no white collar jobs in the country, hence the need to create one for themselves.

Bot noted that as an alternative source of power which many are resorting to, taking it up as a business would provide them with a decent form of living.

Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Mr Hosea Meshak, appreciated the agency and the government for the opportunity, promising to utilise the knowledge impacted in them for their own benefit and for the nation at large.(NAN)
