Wilfred Ndidi’s immediate future appears to be causing significant concerns to those in the hierarchy of the recently crowned EFL championship winner, Leicester City.

The 27-year-old, who joined the Foxes in the winter of 2017, has developed into a mainstay in the midfield of the 2015/16 Premier League champions.

With his contract at the King Power Stadium nearing its end, Ndidi is said to be attracting significant transfer interest from top clubs across Europe.

However, despite reports of this widespread interest, there have been indications that Leicester City has offered the Nigerian midfielder a contract extension.

A recent report by AllNigeriaSoccer has stated Ndidi is likely to leave the club after seven years, particularly in light of the expected departure of current coach, Enzo Maresca.

According to the report, the former Genk midfielder is willing to sign a new deal with Leicester City – only if he is assured of the continuity of the 44-year-old manager.

Maresca has been linked with a move to Chelsea, with Goal reporting that an agreement for the Italian manager to take over at the Premier League club is well underway.

Ndidi, who has flourished under the Italian manager, on the other hand, is not short of suitors.

Recent reports suggest that La Liga club, Atletico Madrid, and French Ligue 1 giant, Olympique Lyon, are keen on acquiring the services of the combative Super Eagles star.
