The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, on Monday, arrested 85 drug suspects at a nightclub in Kano.
The Commander of the agency in the state, Abubakar Idris-Ahmad, disclosed that the arrests resulted from complaints about drug-related activities at the club, adding that members of the club’s host community complained that the establishment had been transformed into a drug den. He noted that 30 female and 55 male suspects had been detained.
Idris-Ahmad added that all of the suspects who tried to elude capture by hiding within deep freezers or climbing over the fence were caught.
He credited the arrest of the suspects as “a significant victory for the NDLEA in its fight against drug-related activities” within Kano state.
He disclosed that drug abuse and trafficking have major detrimental effects on individuals and society as a whole.
