Nigerian superstar David Adeleke better known as Davido has declared his support for Asue Ighodalo, the governorship candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Edo state.
The Afrobeats singer posted a ThisDay cover featuring the governorship candidate on his Instagram Story on Monday.
“The next governor of my mother’s homeland,” he captioned the post
Veronica Adeleke, Davido’s late mother, is from Edo state.
Davido’s post comes after his uncle, Ademola Adeleke, Osun state governor, arrived in Benin.

Adeleke was part of a delegation of PDP governors attending a major rally for Ighodalo.
Prominent figures who have declared their support for the governorship aspirant are Banky W, Adesua Etomi, Etinosa Idemudia, and Charles Inojie.
Others are Aloy Chife, ex-vice president Atiku Abubakar, and the former Cross River governors Liyel Imoke and Donald Duke.
Monday Okpebholo is the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), while Olumide Akpata is the representative of the Labour Party (LP) in the elections that is set to hold on September 21, 2024.
Godwin Obaseki, the incumbent governor of the state, is rounding off his second and final term in office.
